| Posted: | | | | ive asked about this before but no true answer other than from users but because of the market landscape here it goes again
this program needs a feature that will list the collectable value of a movie. due to the publishing company shutting down ,out of print , or low print runs, low/only one region release only. all that creates a higher value of the dvd or blu-ray movie. and now since The Criterion collection has dropped certain movies due to not renewing contracts oop movies become a collectable movie that has a higher collection price value. with disney owning the star wars movies we are gonna be dealing with all the fox releases now becoming 1rst prints release to what ever was their last release being what ever print release(so many i cant keep count). when disney releases star wars to kick off the new movies dvd\blu-ray release its gonna be from a different publishing company. that will kick off a collection definition frenzied that will need to be addressed. because re-releases are common but different releases from publishing companies due to selling ownership of highly popular movies and such this creates a higher value for hard core collectors and shouldn't a program that collects your movies in a database that list where you bought the movie and how much you paid for it and list what edition it is shouldn't it also have a list for collectable value since that value only becomes important when you replace it or sell it for profit
i have a few movies i bought years ago
BEGOTTEN 25.00 now to buy it 100.00
THE WOMAN in BLACK 1993 released on dvd 2000 20.00 to replace 70-100.00
TWINS PEAK pilot film dvd not released in the us 20.00 not in print and was not included in the first release of the collection 20.00 used 12.00 new 25-30.00
i have more but if the value is higher than the suggested retail price then this collection program should address this |

| Posted: | | | | I doubt you'll ever get an official response to your question, but anything's possible.
I could certainly see how this could be handy, but I don't see it as practical, not to mention being somewhat subjective. What you and I would see as the collectable value of any given title may differ greatly. You would also need to rely on the secondary market for such prices, and that may fluctuate daily depending on a variety of factors. I think the best option would be to simply use the Notes section to record this as needed. | | | My phpDVDprofiler collection |
