I sometimes find it rather strange that movies have music in them. So I was wondering if there has ever been a movie made that didn't feature any music at all, except perhaps in the opening and/or end credits? |

| Posted: | | | | By any music at all... do you mean just no composer, or that also no radio/TV music, etc. can be briefly heard?
A few I can think of, if memory serves correctly, are:
The Birds (1963) Marooned (1969) Paper Moon (1973) The China Syndrome (1979) Slacker (1991) Elephant (2003)
...and even though I hate the movie, The Blair Witch Project (1999) had no music either.
I believe John Cassevetes also did a couple of films without music, but I'm not sure which ones. | | | Corey | | | Last edited: by Katatonia |

| Posted: | | | | If I remember correctly, Michael Haneke's films are typically without a score (or perhaps with only very minor references to classical music)... can't check this at the moment with his movies in my collection. | | | Mika I hate people who love me, and they hate me. | Posted: | | | | Haven't seen any of these recently, but I believe all to be score free: The Panic in Needle Park, Marooned, Dog Day Afternoon, The China Syndrome, The Birds, Fail Safe, The Narrow Margin, M, The Tall Target, The Defiant Ones....
Most early sound films (c. 1928-1932) had no music scores: Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, etc. Bergman and Antonioni fequently made films with no scores. The Dogme 95 films (Lars von Trier) had no scores. |

Without having seen any other, I'm guessing that most "found footage" style movies like these two don't have a score, for obvious reasons. | | | ...and Earendil cast him from the sky. |
