| Posted: | | | | Well, hazardous to my health, at least. I started watching season 4 of "24" on Netflix the day before yesterday. I ended up binge watching the whole season in two days. What makes this especially unexpected is the fact that I usually (but certainly not always) get bored with movies that are longer than an hour and a half. I guess this just goes to show that the writers on "24" were excellent at creating cliffhangers. Now I dread starting season 5. It's a good thing that I'm retired so I don't have to miss work ... | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | I had a similar experience with Breaking Bad - brilliant series! This was during my Summer holidays, so it didn't affect work. | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |

| Posted: | | | | That's why I almost abandoned movies. Sure, I watch one here and there. But on the whole? Investing in a or multiple characters for a mere 90-120 minutes? Not worth the effort. Try at least three seasons! | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Addictive... yes! But hazardous...? Well, in case of "24" it could be if you drink a shot every time Jack Bauer kills someone... Seriously, a good series really can tie you down, just watched "The 100" Season 1 in less than 36 hours and can't wait for the Blu-rays of Season 2 to arrive (still preordered but not sent). |

Not worth the effort. Try at least three seasons! But then you are actually saying making a movie takes more skill. Making you care over three seasons, show, can be done. but making you care in 90-120min only, that takes skill. Then again, you could argue, that many director's lack that skill anyway and many movies fail to make you care... | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. | Posted: | | | | The lack of creativity and risk-taking in Hollywood certainly doesn't help. Nowadays all too often it's either the nth American remake of a good movie made elsewhere or superhero franchise nr. 23. | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |

| Posted: | | | | I love both. Today is truly the Golden Age of Television. Entirely different mediums. Both have their strong moments. TV is great for character development but lacks focus, especially in network TV. Funny that 24 started the conversation, I grew tired of the the similar plot twists, arcs & tricks by Season 2. And the need to find some cliffhanger for almost every episode. Weird how it always seemed to happen at the top of the hour... | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |
