01/16 - The Revenant: Better than Star Wars
02/04 - The Big Short: Unusually good for a "star studded" movie. The big name actors melted into their roles. The screenplay was able to weave a comedic thread into a story based on a massively disruptive set of real events. I also enjoyed the music. My wife and I sat through the ending credits accompanied by a wonderful rock classic, mixed for theater sound with awesome effect.
05/20 - Captain America: Civil War (3D): Ok, Scarlett Johansson and who cares about the rest ...
08/02 - Jason Bourne: Skillfully cast. A bunch of our favorite baddies, goodies and hotties. Action packed.
08/03 - Star Trek Beyond (3D): Stunning visuals, but my theater had a dim projector, so I plan to request a complimentary re-viewing. Got the comp tickets, but now the 3D version is no longer showing. Maybe I'll go see Suicide Squad instead.
08/25 - Ben Hur (3D): Good thing we didn't read the reviews beforehand, because we enjoyed the movie. I'm old enough to remember seeing the original remake with Charlton Heston. I never saw the silent film original, nor have I read the book they are all based on. My opinion is that even if you don't have the religious background relevant to this story, this most recent remake is enjoyable if only for the action scenes shot with modern techniques.
11/19 - Dr. Strange (3D): I loved it, because I really like the actor Benedict Cumberbatch and the Marvel Comics franchise.
11/30 - Moonlight: Speaks on many levels. I'll leave it at that. No spoilers from me.
12/16 - Rogue 1 (3D): Loved it. Hated it. Too soon to say more.
12/29 - Rogue 1 (3D): In a better theater. Awesome sound. Loved it - no reservations this time. | | | Thanks for your support.
