| Posted: | | | | Sometimes when I get an idea for a program enhancement I am not sure how useable it actually is. This happened when I started implementing the AutoIt feature in ProfilerQuery. I asked myself, is this a solution in search of a problem, or will there actually be situations where this will make a difference? A little voice said to me: - If you build it, they will come!
And, lo and behold, such a situation arose the other day. I happened to notice that I had flagged a movie as watched by one of my friends rather than by me. I use my iPad to flag watched movies, and unlike for the PC version, there is no default user. You have to check who watched the movie. And I must have missed and pointed to the next user.
Now I got curious. Has this happened more times? A quick search with ProfilerQuery revealed that I actually had 20 movies that were misflagged. It was easy to spot, because I never keep track of anyone else but myself. The other users in the list are only to keep track when I occasionally lend a title to a friend.
Now, fixing 20 watch events isn't the end of the world, but it's boring work. So I decided to try the AutoIt command. A bit of experimentation resulted in this command: ^h{TAB 2}{ENTER}{TAB 2}gunnar{TAB 4}{ENTER}{TAB 3}{ENTER} Now all I had to do was to double click each profile in the search result, and hey presto! Everything fixed.
It should be noted, though, that it wouldn't have worked if I had other proper users in the watch history. It has its limitations, but it's a tool that can come in handy. Be sure to test any command with KeyCatcher, though, and if you're not 100% sure, best leave out the final Enter so you can verify any change before you commit it.
PS. If you're a movie buff you might know that "If you build it, they will come" is a misquote. Not as well know a misquote as "Play it again, Sam", but still fairly well known. Give yourself a pat on the back if you know the correct quote, and what movie it is from.
PPS. No I don't actually hear voices. That bit was for dramatic effect.

| Posted: | | | | One of the features I like to use on the 'watched history' of a said title and date is the memo line ..
I might have in that line only 'half watched' or 'commentary use' only ., as the "watched" section is one of the most important features of Profiler I use..
even the other day I decided to look at my Goodfellas Blue ray and looked to see that in my standard portion of my other DVD of Goodfellas had not watched or seen in 12 years .. so I migrated that info over to the blue ray as my std disc is now on my 'give away' program and soon will not be in my library anymore but still need that important watched history migrated over ... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird.
