looking over the trilogy of the latest 'Planet of the Apes series  from 2011 / 2014  and 2017.,

Can't believe that the second installment from 2014  is in 1.85:1

and the other two are  2.35:1 -re:  aspect ratio..

can you imagine if any other  trilogy was filmed like that.. I wonder why??
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

Yeah, that is strange. If not for Reeves directing the third one, the difference from the first to second could be explained. Even looked it up and 2 and 3 had the same DP.

I think this depends on budgets. Maybe they did not trust in the making of a sequel... trial and success instead of trial and error

But in the case of Aliens: trial and failure

I think it has a lot to do with the what the director wants, along with the DoP.

Like I said, it's the same director and DP for the second and third movies. Although, looking over his filmography, based on IMDb, he does seem to switch from 1.85 to 2.35.

War for the Planet of the Apes (2.35)
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (1.85)
Let Me In (2.35)
Cloverfield (1.85)
The Pallbearer (1.85)

Thanks for your replys back.. In regards to the Alien 'Quad' series .. first was directed by Ridley Scott who loves to film in Widescreen.,  where James Cameron loves to shoot with that system I believe he mainly devised. and that was 'Super35' which is technically correct with his framing ,. and his love of (and Mine)- 1.78:1  for the firsts two sequels he directed , and presumably the third director kept to same format.
