| Posted: | | | | I was going grocery shopping this morning and while walking into the grocery store some guy pulls up in his car and says that he'll give me $10 if he gives me his American Express credit card and his drivers license. I told him that there's an atm inside, but he said no that he'd have used that it he could.
I of course said no.
It was just so strange. It really makes no sense.
Like who would go up to a complete stranger in a parking lot and offer them $10 plus the use of their credit card and their drivers license.
Never, ever have I had this happen to me before.
Any ideas what this guy was trying to do? |

| Posted: | | | | That's definitely weird. So they just wanted to pay you $10 to use their credit card and driver's license? That makes little sense though. Did they specify what exactly to do with them afterwards? | | | Corey |

| Posted: | | | | Could be a stolen credit card number which would explain why he would't be able to use an ATM. |

| Posted: | | | | Maybe a way to lure you into a relationship. Then things go from there: such as going to the ATM or bank together, maybe proposing other things, maybe an accomplice appearing ... | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Not exactly, I assumed return it to him. Thing is that after he left I remembered that at the register it asks if you want money back when using a credit/debit card. I forgot that and didn't mention that to him. Before he asked he asked if I was from the area, then he went on about how he was a veteran and him and his buddies were getting together. He also stated that he went to a gas station and they didn't accept it. Another thing was that around his neck he had some sort of navy related id. He also had his cell phone on too while talking to me. I don't know, perhaps he was recording me. Who at 5am would be driving around with some sort of navy related id hanging around his neck asking strangers to use his credit card? Could it have been a stolen credit card and even a fake id and was trying to get me to use it to see if the card was good? |

If the credit card is stolen and you are being filmed from inside the ATM for the withdrawal, you're the one on the hook. Because actual guy is nowhere near on camera and how'd you prove you just wanted to do someone a favour? | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | I'm just glad that I didn't do as he asked. Probably would be in big trouble.
See at first I thought he was asking for directions because he asked first if I was from the area. But when he went on about the credit card something just didn't feel right.
Gotta be careful. Looks can be so misleading. Guy looked honest and all, but something was off too. |

| Posted: | | | | Or he just needed you to stand close to him long enough to get an electronic read on your card(s). I have heard there are devices that can do that, but they have to be close to you. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |
