What kind of information, that cannot be contributed, do you keep locally?

Just curious to read from some, what info do you keep locally that can't be contributed to the database?

Custom Cover Art, Home-Made discs, my Flixster reviews, tags, Title modifications, custom sort titles, removal of edition field data, re-done cover scans in higher quality, more levels of genre, episode lists added to overviews of TV series...

Pretyy much the only thing for me would be cast & crew from IMDb.

When I find that cast/crew is missing I sometimes add them from IMDb and tag the profile so I know not to upload that data. Eventually I may do a full audit of the profile and update the cast and crew from the credits, but that doesn't always happen. For Asian titles that might never happen.

Sort titles, of course, but that wouldn't count since sort titles are not contributable anyway.

Cast/crew specific filmography profiles (Such as I create a manual profile for Steven Spielberg and then add his birth year in the Year section, his birth date in the DVD Release Date section and biography and filmography in the Overview.)

Manual profiles for Not Yet Released on Disc movies/tv shows.
Custom Genres (Biography, Christmas, Game, Halloween, Military, Mystery, New Years Day, Spoof, Spy, Super Hero, Thanksgiving)

Ttitles.
TV show titles because I like my seasons numbered clean and equally. No "The Complete Season One" here and "The Second Season" there.
Movie titles because I remove all editions unless I have the same title twice.

Cast & Crew.
The past ten years have shown that the common name system is a crutch and we'll never get a person-Id system. So I'd rather take the information from IMDb and can live with the fact that the role is called "Captain Kirk" instead of "Kirk" like in the actual credits.

Custom crew roles, custom cover art, home-made video recordings, and cast  & crew headshots.

Merely all information except cast and crew.
- I use various fields to reflect what I copied to the harddisk instead of the physical media on the shelf: audio, subtitles, features, media
- I ignore some weird titles (Se7en is no title but a pain in the a$$, The online titles of TV shows are really a mess, editions are completely useless, etc.) - and I add alternate titles as original or sort titles to be able to search for them (e.g. The Persuaders is sold under the title Die 2 but I added Die Zwei to the sort title to find them)
- I add more detailed and sometimes multilingual episode listings to the overview of TV shows
- I have tons of non contributed CoO entries, because I was too lazy to research and document them
- I use alternate covers and local high resolution covers

Sort Title, Media Type, DVD Title, Edition, Regions, Video Formats, Features, All Crew, Discs, All Cover Scans

I personally use custom roles for most of the crew. When you contribute a role for lets say "Sound Re-Recording Mixer" and you use "Re-Recording Mixer" which is what's listed then contribute a qualified change within the Crew section the contribution only contributes the original "Sound Re-Recording Mixer" which is fine. Then someone else makes an update and you accept this update all the custom role crew members get duplicated along with keeping the custom role entry so you end up with 2 of the same person listed, 1 with "Sound Re-Recording Mixer" and 1 with "Sound Re-Recording Mixer" and a custom role of "Re-Recording Mixer". This happens for all the entries with custom roles. One royal pain the a$$. If I want one of the updates, I have to write it down and enter it after the regular updates. I hope I made this understandable.

I keep a record of all the music/songs, including writers and performers, which is of particular interest to me.

I also keep a record of other sorts of Directors and Producers, ‘important’ Animators and CG Effects people, Stunt Coordinators, Chorographers; plus ‘Unit’ crews, such as “Second Unit” and location-specific units.

Additionally I change the layout of Overviews and occasionally the titles, to make them more consistent from disc to disc; same with Crew Credits, which I always put in the same order regardless of how they appear on screen.  Additionally, if the case is an unusual colour (not blue (BD), black or clear) or an odd design (like 'eco' cases or narrow spines), I keep a record of that too.

Finally, I use Tags for the following:

Aliens Featured
Apocalyptic Theme
Audio Book
Black Comedy; (although I’m thinking of getting rid of this one as it’s too hard to define; I can’t even agree on an interpretation of my own Rules!)
Cats Featured
Chainsaw Featured
Decapitation
Depressing
Dystopian Theme
Fantasy Creatures
Foreign Language film; (i.e. not in English)
Franchise; (i.e. at least three films)
Funny Film; (makes me laugh out loud at some point)
Game
Gay Theme
Mental Health Theme
Mind F***
Music Theme
Nudity Featured; (i.e. topless (ladies) or full frontal (male/female))
Punk Theme
Rebel Theme
RomCom
Sad Film (i.e. makes me cry)
Slasher Film
Superhero Theme
Teen Theme
Vegan Reference

I was wondering if anyone includes anything other than DVDs and BDs in their local databases?  I’ve started to add VHS tapes (mostly music videos that are unlikely to ever get released on disc), audiobooks (both plays and narrations) and computer games.  I don’t have a huge number, but I thought it would be an interesting way for me to track franchise materials across different formats and actors that also ‘appear’ in these other things, as well as visual effects crew that move between films and games.

I can now see why I never have any time to actually watch anything...
Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it?  Guttermouth "Lemon Water".  Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally.  So I'm an anarchist, deal with it.  Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted...

Awesome ideas. For me, I've just done a couple reversible covers, how I have them in my collection (I tend to like those over what the media company chooses).

Where there are parent profiles with multi format (eg. both DVD & Blu-ray), I remove the DVD checkmark. I hate empty parent profiles and all the data in the child profiles. If I have time in the future I'll fill in the details of my parent profile or copy the Blu-ray data from one of child profiles to the parent profile but never submit. I remember some members of this community always re-inforcing "do whatever the heck you want with your own profiles BUT KEEP IT LOCAL."

Exactly, I have no idea why the program can't be fixed so that it ignores the local custom credits in the crew section.
I mean, Ken added it so that we can more closely enter what is really on screen, yet the program treats it as if it's not a legit entry and ignores it anyway and forces one to accept an update only to go back and remove the duplicates.
It's a major pain.

Music videos off the internet, online videos, titles that have never been released on disc, home video recordings of movies/tv series off of tv (either old VHS tapes or dubbed over to DVD).

Was thinking of doing the old LaserDiscs I have in storage, but don't know if I'll do it as I'm thinking of getting rid of them anyway.
