Stan Lee of course screws up the 90 year limit for anyone with Marvel films in his collection, even just the ones which he actually performed in This raises an interesting question though: With posthumous appearances in franchises (Marvel, Star Wars etc.) getting more and more common, will such a tool need a list of known exceptions? | Posted: Topic Replies: 94, Topic Views: 744 |

Mark Harrison's plug-in CSV Export does basically just that. It still works with the latest Profiler version. You can find it here: http://doena-soft.de/MarkHarrison/ | Posted: Topic Replies: 2, Topic Views: 212 |

Great idea. Unfortunately the requirement for a dev license API code restricts this to the few guys who are already doing plug-ins I'm afraid. After all, no one is approving dev licenses anymore | Posted: Topic Replies: 7, Topic Views: 721 |

There is a registry hack to completely deactivate the reminder:

I deleted LastPromptedRefresh key, and then DVDProfiler opened normally, and this key was automatically restored.
Then, I deleted LastRefreshedProfiles key. DVDProfiler opened normally, without window, and without restoring this key. Perhaps the solution ? I shall wait for sometimes to see if the window comes back... | Posted: Topic Replies: 6, Topic Views: 802 |

Thanks. I do that as well, on top of the tags shown earlier

"Full Frame" is a strange term anyway. It could theoretically be argued that 1.78:1 is today's "Full Frame". I also have trouble with films in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio that are cropped to 1.78:1 for the DVD. There, too, I would like DVD Profiler to acknowledge somehow that I'm looking at a modified version of the original aspect ratio, but there's currently no real way to do that.
Sure there is, mention it in the notes section. Use a term that would only show for that, and you still search it with the "other" filter.
Or just use tags, which not only allows accurate filtering but also usage in custom HTML windows, e.g. displaying special icons based on the tags.

Completely irrelevant imho. The rules don't care how the marketing department decided to structure the content. Any release containing feature films is a boxset, with profiles for each feature film contained and, if applicable, profiles bonus/other content. In such a box, shorts are considered bonus content.
As you say that each disc does contain a feature film, I would list this as:
boxset profile, containing a list of the shorts in the other features field (or, maybe, cast+crew, but I'm not sure this is covered by the rules) - feature 1 - feature 2 ... etc.
Unless there's individual packaging for parts of the box set, in which case I might create an in-between profile for each of those, just to be able to track the different cover art. | Posted: Topic Replies: 4, Topic Views: 1072 |

Ah, had this one on my wishlist years ago. You didn't mention whether all discs also contain feature films.
But for me, neither solution is correct. This is a box set. A boxset is profiled by creating a profile for the set, and sub profiles for each feature film. The feature film sub profiles are either UPC-based or Disc-ID-based, depending on how they are packaged. There are never three levels of profiles. The only reason we did have an in-between level in the past is that there were no alternate profiles for the same disc-id or UPC. And of course, if a boxset basically contained other box sets (i.e. one outer UPC containing 3 sub-UPC with 2 discs each).
If there really are discs that do ONLY contain things NOT related to any of the movies, or DO contain stuff related to multiple feature films, but not those features themselves, then according to the rules, you should add a bonus content disc subprofile of the boxset. Personally, I hate those profiles and always delete them locally.
Quoting the rules:
Create individual profiles for each movie in these Box Sets. Use individual UPCs if they are available or use Disc ID (read on a DVD-ROM) if not. Create each of these individual profiles in line with the standard Contribution Rules with one exception - Cover Images. If a film is individually packaged, use the cover images from that packaging.
Discs with more than one movie on a single side should be entered as one profile per movie. Use a disc ID profile, and as many disc ID alternate profiles as required.
If a Box Set contains discs of Bonus Material for individual films, do not create separate profiles for these discs. Add the information to the individual film’s profile as normal for a single film 2-Disc set. If there is a disc of Bonus Material for all films included in the Box-set, create a separate profile for this disc. | Posted: Topic Replies: 4, Topic Views: 1072 |

You can use the UPC to achieve your goal, at least the criterion collection. In the Add DVD dialog, filter for US+Blu-ray/4K only. Then sort by UPC. All Criterion releases will be listed in one block. You just need to know the common start of the UPC for them (just look at one known release to get it).
For the Warner Archive, this would only work if they used a different brand and thus different UPC for those compare to the normal Warner releases. | Posted: Topic Replies: 5, Topic Views: 2204 |

Shot in the dark, but maybe this also kills the nag screen?
No that just reduces the list of proposed profile updates If you lock your profiles, you don't need to go through endless 'skips'. So lock your profiles, run the scan, click ok, and no profiles are updated. Takes 5 seconds.
Not a solution. First of all, I cannot just lock all my profiles, as it would lock both my collection and my wishlist (spread over the max of 10 categories), destroying whatever system I currently have in place regarding locks.
Also, I don't actually want to skip the updates, I want to eventually process them. I just don't need/want this nag screen as a reminder. Tell me, how often when you open profiler would you actually be in the mood AND have time to process this list. Probably not often, I usually open it to quickly add a new purchase or decide what to watch. I only want to process profile updates when I sit down for a longer DVDP maintenance session. | Posted: Topic Replies: 13, Topic Views: 5453 |
