For either of these you can create an alternate version from the Change UPC / Locality section.

Scenario #1

If your version does not already exist, you can download a similar profile with the same Disc ID.  Then select from the File menu, DVD -> Change UPC/Locality..., and then click the Blue arrow button on the right side of the popup window.  From here, select "Create Alternate Version" and leave the "Retain existing entry and create a clone" check box unchecked.  Click OK, and then update the new profile to reflect your version.

Scenario #2

Same steps as above for the first movie.  For the second or subsequent follow-on movies, follow the above steps, but check the "Retain existing entry and create a clone" check box.

What this likely means is if you change devices you might have a hard time reinstalling it on the new device without finding the .apk and sideloading it.

I just went from a Note 9 to a Galaxy S22 Ultra and all my apps transferred across along with all my data.  No problem.

---------------

Did it download from Google Play or did you use Samsung's Smart Switch to transfer your data from the old to new device?

I can't find it in the Google Play store or in the my apps list in Google Play.  I do have it on my phone and the app info says it was installed from the Google Play store.  What this likely means is if you change devices you might have a hard time reinstalling it on the new device without finding the .apk and sideloading it.

That's an interesting one and the fact they decided to put it below.  I'd say the "Below Enemy Lines" was intended to be a subtitle since the font is much smaller than the "Seal Team 8".

It's getting harder and harder to even look at today's posts. It must be at least 75% of them are spam and nothing is being done about it. Sad

What are you talking about?  Everything I've reported has been removed.

---------------

A lot of stuff I report isn't.  Just look at the existing threads, a new spam pops up and the old spam is still there.  Some threads have so much existing spam it's ridiculous.

Maybe it's time to close the new user forum since it's obviously being used almost exclusively by spammers.

Child profiles are optional thus all features on the release should be added to the main profile as a normal profile.  The film specific details, assuming the set contain the same film on multiple media types, should be based on the film details for the highest quality media.

I think this is an interesting situation, usually when VS first releases a box set all contents (cases) have the same UPC number which is inferred to be the same UPC for the box set.  Then when they eventually release each title separately, they assign (new) individual UPCs for each release.

Did you purchase the box separately or as a set?  If the latter, I'm curious if the UPCs for each of the individual titles are the same as the previous releases or if all titles have a new UPC?

EDIT:  Either way, I do believe it's helpful to have the parent boxset available to all in the database, but not sure how it would be listed in this case.

ok, Ken may have stepped into a Black Hole, but where are the other forum and site administrators? Did they take an oath of silence, all quit or what? I have Forum maintenance needs!

For all we know, it was only Ken and Gerri.

No.  There are contribution votes being cast for five other volumes.

---------------

From my observation, most people just vote yes, even if it's clearly wrong.  Sometimes contributions even ping pong back and forth for different data in the same field with the same members voting yes to all. I'm not sure if the contribution votes are a good metric anymore.

Interesting.  So far the voting here is hugely divergent from the voting going on right now for the other volumes in this set.

---------------

Are there polls for those too?

The only question remaining is, will Ken Cole submit the annual registration report for his corporation, INVELOS SOFTWARE, INC., by the due date of 31-Jul-2022. If he doesn't, he runs the risk the Missouri Secretary of State may dissolve his corporation, which means the corporation can no longer carry on its business other than to wind up, liquidate and pay off the creditors.

Missouri? Invelos is located in Virginia.

Corporations can be registered in another state and you'll find that a lot of companies register in Delaware for certain reasons.  But remember that Ken was in Missouri during the Intervocative times and the beginnings of Invelos.

I´m still liking dvd-profiler a lot like it is. I dont need any new features - maybe this: a higher Cover-Resolution would be nice to be possible to read the information on the back-cover.

I would agree on increasing the resolution for cover images.  I recently switched to a UHD monitor and have started to put 1000px wide images in my database which seems perfect.  Maybe it's just a coincidence, but doubling the width of the images increases the resolution 4x similar to going from HD to UHD.  However, the covers at that higher resolution are easily readable as if you're looking at the back of the actual case.

It's simple: Then my contributer time is over. I will do the work for myself, but why should I beg to be able to support others? A lot of things happened in here, and this now simply is too much!

Since you're able to post in the forums, have you tried to see if your contribution rights have been restored?

People shouldn't be banned from contribution!

I don't believe it's a step taken lightly or without due cause.

What was the cause?

Just asking questions that my feeble brain can no longer handle:

- is having no discID better than having one that will probably be valid for the foreseeable future? Since the only way to get the disc ID is to use the disc, why not go ahead and capture whatever you can when the disc is in the drive?

- Is there any way to save both in the profile, maybe using "side A / side B"?

- Any reason not to use the software that computes the old one, while the disc is available?

Apologies for the limitations of my old brain and my pragmatist approach.

does it really matter? The program is running on borrowed time. When it goes away so do the disc ids, right or wrong they are all gone.

Same could be said about DVDs, which are 25 years old and have been superseded by two generations of optical media.

I do wonder what happened that development came to a screeching halt.

How do we know this?  One of my (possibly unrealistic) hopes is that DVD Profiler is being redone from the ground up to support 64 bit computing, unicode, and streaming purchases.  Ken never was one to let us in on future plans until he was ready to spring them on us.

---------------

So you really think it's been in development for over four years?

I do wonder what happened that development came to a screeching halt.  In one of my support tickets from the end of 2017, Ken mentioned they were working on an update to the rules, but that never materialized.

Who is your friend?  It's kind of hard to say what may have happened without understanding the scenario.

It also appears you don't know what your friend did so how do you know the punishment doesn't fit the crime?

Queue the ominous 'x-files' music.....

Would this make a good movie script? What do you think 'Invelos The Movie' will it be a drama, horror or comedy?

Nice to see that the software and website are still working. But a company that doesn't let us know anything for a long time, to mostly paying users (even though I think it's a very good offer) doesn't give me confidence in the future of this organization.

As long as I can use the software and website I am a satisfied user

Funny. Early on in this thread the status was, I believe, 8 to 1 for boxset. Now it's 12 to 12. I wonder if the "bonus film" voters were swayed by the arguments in the thread, or if it was just coincidence that they came in late?

Probably a little bit of both.

Nice tool!

For additional visual verification you could also try this: Soundcard Scope

I haven't tested it on DVDs but it works well enough comparing mono and stereo tracks on Spotify, for example with The Beatles "1" (Remastered).

For older recordings you will sometimes see variations in the input signals due to channel noise but the differences are generally much smaller than for real stereo.

Audacity is another tool that can be used to visualize the channels.
